2 PhD Positions at the intersection Psychology/Behavioral Economics at the Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Applications are invited for two PhD positions (three years each), funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark, at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The chosen candidates will be part of a research group investigating predictors, correlates, and consequences of cooperative, ethical, honest, and moral behavior. Our research group conducts lab, online, and field experiments as well as studies, typically combining psychological with economic approaches. Funding for conducting experiments/studies as well as for standard expenses (e.g., conference visits, research stays abroad) will be provided. The Principal Investigator of the project and the PhD supervisor is Ingo Zettler, Professor with Special Responsibilities in Personality and Social Behavior, Department of Psychology. Ideally, employment starts May 1st 2018, although an earlier or later date might also be possible.

Requirements

Applicants should have studied Psychology, Economics, or a closely field, and must have completed a two year MSc degree program or have earned 120 ECTS credits at an equivalent academic level before starting the employment. Candidates should be experienced with conducting and analyzing experiments, and should strive for an academic career in the long run. It is not a requirement to understand, speak, or learn Danish.

The application should include a cover/motivation letter (max. 3 pages), CV, study certificates, own publications (if applicable), the Bachelor and Master theses (if applicable), as well as the name and contact information of at least one reference. In the cover/motivation letter, applicants are asked to sketch one topic within the field of cooperative, ethical, honest, and moral behavior that they would like to investigate in their PhD.

The chosen candidates will be enrolled as PhD students at the Faculty of Social Sciences (see the rules of the Danish Ministerial order No 1039 of August 27th 2013), completing the PhD program as a three year full-time study within the framework of the 5+3 study program (see http://samf.ku.dk/phd-skolen/english). PhD students are paid a salary in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC); the exact salary depends on several factors (e.g., chosen pension scheme), but can be expected to be around 17,500 DKK net/month (or around 19,500 DKK/month including pension savings). PhD students have a work obligation of up to 840 hours over the 3-year period without additional pay, which is covered typically by teaching two seminars within the 3-year period.

The shortlisting will be based on the qualifications and knowledge in relevant aspects, as well as on the motivation of the applicants.
Shortlisted, qualified applicants will then be invited to an online job interview (mainly dealing with research experiences and interests) with the PhD supervisor. The shortlisting will take place in the first half of January 2018, and the online interviews subsequently (in accordance with the invited applicants).
